The Cats

MERLIN – A.K.A the Merle and Merle Man.  Merlin was the runt of the litter and came to me with a bad upper respiratory infection at 8 weeks old.  Feeling ill and missing his mom, he was very weepy for the first 48 hours and slept on my throat (which I assume was to feel my pulse).  As a kitten Merlin was always a bit mischievous, but also a scaredy cat. He still is, but he’s come a long way! Merlin is quite the charming, comedic cat.  Life with Merlin is an adventure and I’m sure will remain that way!

RAVEN – A.K.A. Ravey girl and the Raven. Raven is Merlin’s sister. She was originally taken in by another family at age 8 weeks. Luckily for me, she was returned a few days later due to a cat allergy.  Raven is a tough cookie…very sweet but she’s no push over!  She’s prepared to protect who and what she loves. (Just ask my sister’s Shih tzu who dared to enter her sacred litter box!)  Unlike Merlin who is as healthy as an ox, Raven has had her share of health problems (e.g. asthma, patella luxation, overweight).  She also has the cutest white whiskers on one side of her face and quite the shoe fetish!  Raven is a happy, mild-mannered, loving feline friend who loves spending time with her humans.

GRACIE – A.K.A. Miss Gracie and Amazing Grace is the newest addition to the family after being rescued by me and a friend while on vacation in Vieques, Puerto Rico.  The then 3 month old Gracie was found trying to eat toilet paper in a restroom by a public beach.  She was quite the vocal little kitty and made it clear that she didn’t want to be left behind!  Finding a home locally for Gracie was not an easy task.  The local humane society was overburdened. So we decided to take her back to NYC, where she may have a better shot at being adopted. Getting her there wasn’t easy (you wouldn’t believe how difficult it is to find an airline approved cat carrier!). But we made it happen!  Once back in NYC, I decided to adopt her as I couldn’t face the thought of not knowing where she’d end up.  My kitties weren’t exactly thrilled, but she’s growing on them.  In fact, Gracie and Merlin are well on their way to become the best of friends!

You’re right! I changed the description. LOL But, I thought it was funny that she didn’t have white whiskers on her other side! 🙂
